It really does seem like only yesterday that I was taking my "baby" to school for his first day of Kindergarten. I remember thinking it was so big and I was just going to leave him there with someone I had met only briefly. He was so ready. Running ahead of us and looking back saying it's okay Mommy, I can go by myself! He was right. He could go by himself. He blossomed so much that year, it was amazing to watch. First grade was a bit harder(for me, not him) as he had never been gone from me for that many hours. I remember thinking, what is he doing all day???? When does he eat, is he making good lunch choices, letting the teacher know if he needs to go the bathroom. Who are is friends? Is he being nice, sharing, are they being nice to him?? It got easier every year, and now I am lucky to just peak in at him on the first day of school and maybe snap a photo. I have a feeling I won't be doing that next year. We were blessed each and every year to have FABULOUS teachers. Each one has given him something that he will take with him all through his life.
Zakk, I am so proud of you! You are an amazing boy....Loyal and honest with such a big heart, and so, so creative. I am excited for all that is in store for you next year as you start your new journey!!
I wanted to put photos of Zakk from kindergarten thru 5th grade on the first day of school and the last, but a lot of those were taken before I went digital. Since I am scannerless, these will have to do. I was really lucky on the last day of school to gather all of his teachers from 1st-5th grade and take one last photo. Mrs. Young, his kindergarten teacher is teaching at another school, so she is the only one missing.

Wow, Zakk! I can hardly believe you are moving on to middle school. You are a great kid. I'm so proud to be a small piece of your educational experience. Can't wait to see what great things you will do.
Love,
Mrs. McCarty, your 1st grade teacher
How cute (sorry....cool!) is that!! I can't believe how much Zakk has changed since we've met! :)
See you soon :)
Tracey
